Zhodino and Naberezhnye Chelny signed an agreement establishing friendly relations.

Naberezhnye Chelny Mayor Nail Magdeev met with a delegation from the Republic of Belarus, led by Chairman of the Minsk Regional Executive Committee Alexei Kushnarenko.

The key event of the visit was the signing of an Agreement on the Establishment of Friendly Relations and Cooperation with the city of Zhodino in the Minsk Region. The document was signed by Nail Magdeev and the Chairman of the Zhodino City Executive Committee, Alexander Tsivako.

The agreement opens up opportunities for deeper cooperation in trade, economic, and investment spheres, and also provides for direct contacts between businesses and organizations in the two municipalities. “We will certainly find opportunities to collaborate in various areas across the cities. This is truly an interesting experience for us, so we were pleased to accept the Minsk Region leadership’s offer to sign an agreement – we will become sister cities!” emphasized Nail Magdeev.

During the meeting, Chairman of the Minsk Regional Executive Committee Alexey Kushnarenko presented the region’s economic potential, discussed tourist attractions, and discussed prospects for joint collaboration.

Nail Magdeev, in turn, noted the deep historical ties between the republics. He recalled an interesting historical fact: the decision to build the KAMAZ auto giant on the banks of the Kama River was discussed by General Secretary of the CPSU Central Committee Leonid Brezhnev and First Secretary of the Tatar Regional Committee of the CPSU Fikryat Tabeyev during a trip from Minsk to Moscow.

The mayor also briefed guests on Naberezhnye Chelny’s achievements, emphasizing successes in economic diversification, the development of small and medium-sized businesses, and the effective operation of the Advanced Development Area (ADA) and industrial parks.

It’s worth noting that Zhodino already has established cooperation with five companies in Tatarstan, and these contacts will be extended. Today, a strategic partnership agreement was signed between Evgeny Romanovich, Deputy General Director for Commercial Imports and Logistics at BELAZ, the managing company of BELAZ-HOLDING, and TEM Trading House and RIAT.

Zhodino is one of the industrial centers of the Minsk region. Its industrial complex includes mechanical engineering and metalworking enterprises, as well as light and food industries. The city’s mainstay is the Belarusian Automobile Plant (BelAZ), which produces quarry dump trucks with load capacities ranging from 30 to 450 tons.

In addition, a cooperation agreement was signed between the Naberezhnye Chelny Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Minsk branch of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

In memory of their first meeting, the guests were presented with a commemorative medal for the 400th anniversary of the founding of the city of Naberezhnye Chelny.
