Turchin: Every fine day, farmers need to be mobilized and ready to go out to harvest

Every fine day, grain growers need to be mobilized and ready to go out to harvest. This was stated by the Chairman of the Minsk Regional Executive Committee Alexander Turchin at a meeting of the executive committee on the readiness of agricultural organizations of the region for the harvesting campaign in 2024 and winter sowing, a correspondent of BELTA reports.

«On Friday, at a meeting with the head of state, the importance and seriousness of a high-quality harvesting campaign was outlined. I will say objectively: it is not a fact that the weather will be better and will be favorable for the work. In a situation when it rains, we will need to be maximally mobilized and ready to go out to harvest on every fine day. The grain in the fields is quite good, it needs to be harvested. And a large amount of straw, on the one hand, is a blessing, on the other, it is additional work. It will need to be removed promptly so that we can carry out winter sowing within the optimal agrotechnical timeframe,” noted Alexander Turchin.

Minsk Regional Executive Committee: in about a week, combines will go out to the fields in the Minsk Region
Sysoyev: by the beginning of the harvest, at least 45 new combines will be delivered to farms in the Minsk Region
He also noted that the results achieved with winter grains vary greatly. “We have been systematically moving towards a serious reduction in spring sowing and an increase in winter sowing, so the 400 thousand hectares that we plan to sow is a very serious figure. We must approach this fully armed: harvest the straw on time, without losses, plough and sow in order to get results next year,” said Alexander Turchin.
